Vascular Lab Offers Diagnosis and Treatment

Whereas the Low-Risk Cardiac Catheterization Lab concentrates on the heart, the Vascular Lab takes care of almost every other part of the body. Everyone knows the importance of a healthy heart, but people can and do also develop blockages in the bodys other vital arteries that, if left untreated, can result in a stroke.

For example, individuals who experience pain in their legs when they walk for a moderate pace or distance may have blocked arteries. And, according to the American Heart Association, nearly one in three adults has high blood pressure.

Some people have uncontrollable hypertension (high blood pressure) because they are on high doses of prevention medication. This type of hypertension can be caused by a narrowing of the artery that passes blood to the kidney.
